I am a portrait photographer living in South San Francisco. I was born in the Philippines in 1975, but “grew up” all over as an Air Force kid.
When I was five living in Berlin, I remember begging my parents for a camera for christmas. They bought me a Kodak Instamatic, you know, the one with the flash cubes you can only use once?
When I was in high school in South Carolina, I was known as the “video guy” and was responsible for editing the video announcements at school. I still have a passion for videography.
I didn’t get serious about photography until 2004 when I bought my 1st DSLR, Canon 10D. My photography styles have followed the events in my life and at the time it seemed like everyone was getting engaged, so I was taking a lot of engagement photos. Then naturally, those folks were getting married, so I started doing a lot of weddings. Next came the babies, and I even had kids of my own so I was doing lots of newborns.
Currently, I love creative edgy lighting. You can expect that I will have a fine attention to detail on your project and you can rely on me to execute on your vision.
When I get the chance, I love to swim, bike, and run – sometimes all three in a day. The hills around South San Francisco and the bay make a great training ground for a novice triathlete like me. When I’m not photographic clients, I’m usually photographing my family, especially my two boys. Feel free to check out my other site www.garycruz.com
